Tool and Die Maker
- Job Title: Tool & Die Maker (Press Tools)
- Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
- Pay range: $35-$41/hour + 10% shift differential
- Hours: 2nd Shift (2pm-11pm Monday – Friday), flexible if needed

Job Summary:
Tool and Die Maker repairs, modifies, and troubleshoots punch press and multi-slide dies to maintain part quality and production efficiency. The role involves precision machining, die adjustments, engineering changes, and debugging new tooling to ensure reliable manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot punch press and multi-slide dies in production to identify root causes and implement corrective action.
- Disassemble dies to inspect and replace worn or damaged components.
- Machine new die sections and components using precision equipment.
- Reassemble, try out, and adjust dies to meet dimensional and quality specifications.
- Analyze previous production runs to identify potential die failures and prevent downtime.
- Modify existing dies to support engineering changes and production improvements.
- Try out and debug new dies prior to release into production.
- Recommend tooling design improvements to enhance quality and reduce costs.
- Maintain tooling records, job history documentation, and spare parts inventory.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards while maintaining a clean and organized tool room.
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in tool and die making, including troubleshooting punch press and multi-slide dies.
- Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent formal training.
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and apply advanced trade mathematics.
- Proficient in operating precision machine tools and inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.).
- Ability to perform close-tolerance machining, lift up to 50 lbs., and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
