Process Technician

The Process Technician is responsible for optimizing and maintaining injection molding and blow molding production processes to reduce product scrap and ensure consistent product quality. This role requires hands-on troubleshooting and a deep understanding of the machinery specific to these plastics manufacturing processes.
Must have Injection Molding experience for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Verification & Setup: Perform first-piece start-up process verification for both injection molding and blow molding machines. This includes verifying end-of-arm tooling, robot programs, and proper cam settings.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Respond to calls from operators to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to process parameters and product quality. Identify and initiate work orders for machine and tool repairs.
- Quality Control: Conduct process verification checks as defined by the product's Master Process Monitoring Sheet (MPMS). Actively work to identify and correct the root causes of common molding defects, such as flash, short shots, and warping.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in problem-solving activities to improve process efficiency and reduce scrap.
- Documentation: Ensure all process documentation, including the MPMS, is current and correctly filed following mold, material, or insert changes.
- Safety: Participate in all safety activities and follow company procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience as a Process Technician or similar role in a plastics manufacturing environment with hands-on knowledge of injection molding and blow molding processes.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical documents, product drawings, and system documentation.
- Communication: Effective communication skills for interacting with operators and other team members.
- Problem-Solving: Strong reasoning ability to apply logic and participate in problem-solving activities.
- Physical Requirements: The role involves moderate physical movement and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability: Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
