International Procurement Specialist - Virginia

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced International Procurement Specialist to lead new product development and manage sourcing operations with overseas suppliers. In this role, you'll play a key part in launching new office furniture products, improving supplier relationships, and ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery. This is a strategic position for someone who thrives in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment and understands global manufacturing and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development & Selection

  • Identify and source new products tailored for the office furniture market.
  • Assess supplier capabilities and feasibility for manufacturing new designs.
  • Work with Marketing to promote new, high-potential items and phase out underperformers.

International Supplier Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for factories in China, Malaysia, and Taiwan.
  • Manage communications, timelines, and expectations for overseas production.
  • Collect and maintain technical specifications, drawings, and related documentation.

Manufacturing & Pricing Strategy

  • Leverage manufacturing knowledge to optimize quality and cost.
  • Develop pricing strategies that meet margin goals and market demands.
  • Provide accurate pricing and freight data for new product launches.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales, Field Services, and Marketing to develop product materials and promotional assets.
  • Coordinate with Distribution to plan inventory space for incoming products.
  • Support Marketing with product data, design input, and web content.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Product Development, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of experience in international sourcing or procurement (office furniture manufacturing experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of global manufacturing, pricing structures, and logistics
  • Hands-on experience working with suppliers in Asia (especially China, Malaysia, and Taiwan)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems; PLM software experience a plus
