We are partnering with a manufacturing company based near Springfield, MI, currently seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead and support all HR initiatives on-site. You will play a key role in driving HR strategy, managing employee relations, including union interactions and leading a small HR team.
This is a full-time, day shift position offering a competitive salary depending on experience. The package includes bonuses, health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and other employee support programs.
Key Responsibilities of the HR Manager:
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Plant Leadership team to support business objectives and people strategies
- Drive a culture of engagement, performance, and continuous improvement across the site
- Lead, develop, and support site-based HR staff
- Manage employee relations and labor matters, including contract interpretation, grievance handling, and union communication
- Oversee salaried and hourly recruitment and onboarding, partnering with Talent Acquisition
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policy, and regulatory requirements
- Champion site-level diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
- Support HR Centres of Excellence to implement people initiatives effectively
- Promote and support plant safety, food safety, and SQF standards
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (Preferred, not essential)
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience within a manufacturing, DC, or corporate setting
- Minimum 3 years of experience working directly with labor unions
- Strong knowledge of employment law, investigations, and labor relations
- Skilled in project management, talent development, and employee engagement
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS/HCM systems
