Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Worcester, MA

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, Core Business Hours

Industry: Industrial Products Manufacturer

Job Position Summary:

The Manufacturing / Cost Engineer will prepare accurate cost estimates for new product quotes and maintain standard costs for existing products. This role involves analyzing materials, labor, tooling, and equipment data to support reliable cost forecasting. Working closely with cross-functional teams to help optimize costs, improve efficiency, and support strategic decisions across both new and existing product lines.

Duties and responsibilities as a Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate cost data using standardized methodologies.
  • Identify cost risks and uncertainties to strengthen costing models.
  • Develop cost estimates for processes and tooling; recommend improvements.
  • Track actual vs. estimated costs and report variances.
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities through detailed analysis.
  • Monitor cost trends and support variance reporting.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, and Project Management to meet cost objectives.
  • Analyze technical documents and vendor quotes to create detailed estimates.
  • Mitigate project risks with cost impact analysis.
  • Support cost-optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Improve production efficiency through process evaluation and redesign.
  • Lead process-improvement projects using Lean methodologies.
  • Use data and statistical tools to analyze production performance and forecast trends.

Skills and experience required as a Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–7 years of related experience in cost engineering, estimating, or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
