We're partnered with a well-established machinery manufacturer in Reading, PA, currently seeking an Automation Engineer to join their team.
This position offers a competitive pay rate of $40–45 per hour, with overtime and international travel compensation bringing estimated annual earnings to around $120-140,000. The role also includes a comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k), healthcare, vision, and dental coverage.
Duties as an Automation Engineer:
- Collaborated with customers and engineering teams to design electrical systems for machinery.
- Developed and maintained machine control systems using PLC/HMI platforms.
- Created BOMs and issued complete design packages to manufacturing and purchasing.
- Ensured compliance with internal design standards for schematics, materials, and components.
- Supported equipment from concept through assembly, installation, and start-up.
- Conducted in-house testing, simulation, and debugging of control systems.
- Travel (up to 50%) for on-site implementation, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Commissioned systems at customer facilities and provided ongoing technical support.
- Managed timelines, budgets, and documentation for automation projects.
- Familiar with components including drives, motors, sensors, and safety devices.
- Coordinated with vendors, customers, and internal teams to resolve automation challenges.
- Delivered customized, customer-focused automation solutions.
Qualifications & Experience required:
- Associates Degree in an electrical/ technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the electrical field
- Minimum of three years’ experience in control systems design.
- Siemens experience is preferred
- Knowledge and experience with variable frequency drives and servo drives
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- AutoCAD experience preferred
